Anti Aging Facial Peels and Acne Scar Treatments
Facial peels are excellent as anti-aging treatments or as acne/scar treatments. Use of a Glycolic Acid treatment is one of the most effective ways to reverse the signs of aging, and no skin care regime is truly complete without one.
When Glycolic Acid is used in combination with Salicylic Acid (Alpha/Beta Peel) and Hyaluronic Moisturizer (30% Serum) a powerful anti-aging and blemish control system becomes available for the best facial skin care.

Glycolic Acid or Natural fruit acids (alpha hydroxy acids or AHAs) rejuvenate the skin by encouraging the shedding of old, sun-damaged surface skin cells. Glycolic acid is the alpha hydroxy acid most frequently used for facial treatments but lactic and citric acid are also useful. An ideal treatment for busy people who are unable to take time off work for a deeper peel or laser resurfacing, fruit acid facial peels gently retexture the skin over a period of a few months. These “light peels” do not require any anesthesia. The face is cleansed thoroughly and then the peel solution is applied for three to five (see chart) minutes. It stings mildly. The solution is then washed off. AHAs loosen the glue-like substances that hold the surface skin cells to each other, therefore allowing the dead skin to peel off. After light peels, the treated skin turns red or pink and heals without crusting. The skin underneath has a fresher, healthier look with a more even color and texture. With high concentration and long-term use, fruit acids may also affect the deeper layers of the skin. Collagen and elastin regenerate making fine lines less obvious.
Weekly facial peels for a period of about 6-8 weeks are typical for most patients.

Beta hydroxy acid peels
It is becoming common for the use of Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) peels to be used instead of the stronger Alpha Hyroxy (AHA)peels due to BHA's albility to get deeper into the pore than AHA. Studies show that BHA peels control oil, acne as well as remove dead skin cells to a certain extent better than AHA's, due to AHA's only working on the surface of the skin.
Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). This colorless crystalline organic acid is widely used in organic synthesis and functions as a plant hormone. It is derived from the metabolism of salicin. It is probably best known as a compound that is chemically similar but not identical to the active component of aspirin. Salicylic acid is a key additive in many skin-care products for the treatment of acne, psoriasis, calluses, corns, keratosis pilaris, and warts. It works by causing the cells of the epidermis to slough off more readily, preventing pores from clogging up, and allowing room for new cell growth. Use of concentrated solutions of salicylic acid may cause hyperpigmentation on unpretreated skin for those with darker skin types (Fitzpatrick phototypes IV, V, VI), as well as with the lack of use of a broad spectrum sunblock *DO NOT USE SALICYLIC ACID IF YOU ARE PREGNANT. DO NOT USE SALICYLIC ACID IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO ASPIRIN AS IT IS IN THE ASPIRIN FAMILY.

WHO ARE THE BEST CANDIDATES FOR CHEMICAL PEELS?
The best candidates for chemical peels are the light skin types 1, 2, and 3, which have less chance for such complications as hyper (dark spots) and hypo (light spots) pigmentation and scarring. Although skin types 5 and 6 are not ideal for peels, they can be peeled using such superficial agents as salicylic acid or a low percentage glycolic acid such as 30% or 40%

What is the big difference between Home Peels and Dr. Peels?
We know that you want to know the real difference between "home peels" and "Doctor's office" peels. Well, here it is… PH levels are the biggest factor! The lower the pH level, the deeper and quicker a peel will penetrate into the skin.
*Many Dr.’s use the same pH levels that we carry and only to find they need to use the lower pH levels on people with severely damaged skin. The following chart is a comparison of the pH levels of our glycolic acid peels (*our pH levels are lower than most sites).
Home peels (Aglow’s)
40% pH 1.6
40% pH 2.1*
We want you to know what the difference is and most importantly why. When you are at a doctor's office there are professionals who are continually monitoring your skin for erythema’s, frosting and any other signs that the acid needs to be neutralized immediately or you could get a burn. When you are in the privacy of your own home you do not have a professional on hand to make sure that you do not burn your skin.
If you feel you need a deeper peel than ours - - PLEASE have a physician perform it on you!
Of course you will get great results! You may have to do an extra peel or two, to equal that of the doctor's office
The use of a Peel Applicator Fan Brush will give the most impressive and professional results.

1oz. @ 2-3 pumps (10-15 drops) per peel =35-40 peels per bottle!
2oz. @ 2-3 pumps (10-15 drops) per peel =70-80 peels per bottle!
